NPORS Plant Machinery Marshal

The primary objectives of this training are to:

• Provide participants with a fundamental understanding of the industry, relevant legislation, and potential hazards associated with working in proximity to Plant Machinery.
• Familiarize participants with the manufacturer’s handbook specific to the vehicle or machine they will be guiding.
• Equip participants with knowledge of various signs, signals, and approved hand signals used in guiding machinery.
• Ensure participants can identify and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for vehicle or plant machinery marshalling.
• Instruct participants on conducting essential safety checks at the work area, including assessing stop blocks and tipping areas.
• Teach participants how to establish exclusion zones for loading/unloading operations.
• Train participants in safely guiding machinery in both forward and reverse directions, even in confined spaces and “blind areas.”
• Address environmental considerations related to machine operations.
• Prepare participants to carry out end-of-shift, shutdown, and parking procedures effectively.

The NPORS Plant Machinery Marshal (N133) Course includes the following key topics:

• Industry understanding, relevant legislation, and safety responsibilities.
• Knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific vehicle or machine being guided.
• Familiarity with signs, signals, approved hand signals, and communication methods.
• Selection and maintenance of appropriate PPE for vehicle or plant machinery marshalling.
• Conducting safety assessments at the work area, including stop blocks and tipping areas.
• Establishment of exclusion zones for loading/unloading.
• Safe guidance of machinery in forward and reverse directions, even in confined spaces and “blind areas.”
• Considerations for environmental impact.
• Procedures for end-of-shift, shutdown, and parking.

Upon successful completion of the NPORS Plant Machinery Marshal (N133) Training, participants will receive an NPORS certification that remains valid for 5 years. This certification confirms their competence in safely marshalling, moving, parking, and working with Plant Machinery, and their understanding of industry regulations and best practices.
