NPORS Harness and Fall Arrest

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Develop a basic understanding of the industry and its associated dangers.
2. Gain a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook relevant to the harness or fall arrest equipment to be used.
3. Locate and identify the major components of the harness or fall arrest equipment and explain their functions.
4. Conduct all necessary safety checks in alignment with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
5. Select the appropriate type of harness or fall arrest equipment based on the specific work to be undertaken.
6. Identify and properly maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) suitable for using harnesses or fall arrest equipment.
7. Correctly fit and remove the safety harness or fall arrest equipment.
8. Perform end-of-work inspections to ensure equipment integrity.
9. Consider environmental factors related to harnesses and fall arrest equipment.
10. Understand proper storage practices for harnesses and fall arrest gear.

The NPORS Harness and Fall Arrest (N723) course covers the following key areas:

• Basic industry understanding, including industry hazards and responsibilities.
• Knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific harness or fall arrest equipment.
• Identification and explanation of major components and their functions.
• Safety checks in compliance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
• Selection of suitable harness or fall arrest equipment based on job requirements.
• Identification and maintenance of PPE appropriate for harnesses and fall arrest equipment.
• Proper fitting and removal of safety harnesses and fall arrest gear.
• End-of-work inspections to ensure equipment safety.
• Environmental considerations related to harnesses and fall arrest equipment.
• Guidelines for the storage of harnesses and fall arrest gear.

Upon successful completion of the NPORS Harness and Fall Arrest (N723) course, participants will receive an NPORS certification. This certification is typically valid for 5 years and serves as proof of the individual’s competence in using harnesses and fall arrest equipment safely.

Pre-Course Information: Candidates must provide proof of eligibility for the course, which includes passing the CITB health, safety, and environmental touch screen test within two years before applying for the course. Additionally, candidates should have a good understanding of spoken and written English.

This training ensures that individuals are well-prepared to work safely at heights and effectively utilize harnesses and fall arrest equipment, contributing to enhanced workplace safety.
