Course Summary:

The NPORS Excavator as a Crane (N100) course is designed for individuals who need to acquire the knowledge and practical skills required to perform lifting operations using a 360 Excavator safely. This course covers various aspects of lifting operations and safety measures to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Develop a basic understanding of the construction industry, recognize industry-related hazards, and comprehend the responsibilities of an operator.
  2. Conform to manufacturers’ requirements as specified in technical data, relevant regulations, and legislation.
  3. Locate, identify, and explain safe working loads, lifting capacity charts, and various lifting configurations and working ranges.
  4. Identify and explain different lifting procedures and categorize tasks accordingly.
  5. Identify the centers of gravity and calculate estimated weights of loads.
  6. Recognize overhead and proximity hazards.
  7. Agree on signal codes/hand signals, directions of movement, safe working practices, safe landing zones, and placement zones with the slinger/signaller.
  8. Ensure the excavator is in a safe condition for attachments to be fitted.
  9. Check load integrity and security through trial lifts.
  10. Lift and move loads to designated positions safely and in a controlled manner, minimizing uncontrolled movements.
  11. Consider environmental factors during lifting operations.
  12. Perform all service and securing procedures.

The NPORS Excavator as a Crane (N100) course covers the following key areas:

  • Industry basics, hazard recognition, and operator responsibilities
  • Conforming to manufacturers’ requirements, regulations, and legislation
  • Identifying and explaining safe working loads, lifting capacity charts, and lifting configurations
  • Categorizing and explaining different lifting procedures

Upon successful completion of the NPORS Excavator as a Crane (N100) course, participants will receive an NPORS certification, valid for five years from the course completion date.

Entry Requirements: Candidates must meet the following prerequisites for course enrollment:

  • Successful completion of the CITB health, safety & environmental touch screen test within two years prior to application.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to conduct lifting operations using a 360 Excavator in a safe and controlled manner, adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
