NPORS Excavator 360

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Develop a basic understanding of the construction industry, recognize industry-related hazards, and comprehend the responsibilities of a plant operator.
2. Acquire a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook specific to the machine they will operate.
3. Identify and locate the major components of the machine, providing explanations for their functions.
4. Locate and identify steering, driving, and braking controls while explaining their functions.
5. Identify and properly maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate for excavator use.
6. Conduct comprehensive pre-operational checks in compliance with both manufacturer’s guidelines and legislative requirements.
7. Safely mount and dismount the excavator.
8. Start and stop the engine, safely move the machine, and stop it securely.
9. Configure the machine for travel and safely maneuver it across various terrains in open and confined areas.
10. Perform all necessary safety checks within the work area.
11. Safely maneuver the machine to the designated work area and prepare it correctly for excavation tasks.
12. Execute excavating tasks proficiently.
13. Load materials onto transporting vehicles or into containers.
14. Reinstate excavation work, grade, and level the ground.
15. Properly fit and remove attachments as required.
16. Carry out all end-of-shift and shutdown procedures.

The NPORS Excavator 360 (N202) course covers the following key areas:

• Industry basics, hazard recognition, and operator responsibilities
• Familiarization with the manufacturer’s machine handbook
• Identification and explanation of major machine components
• Identification and explanation of steering, driving, and braking controls
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) identification and maintenance
• Comprehensive pre-operational checks in accordance with regulations
• Safe mounting, dismounting, and machine operation
• Configuring the machine for travel and maneuvering across varied terrain
• Safety checks within the work area
• Preparation of the machine for excavation tasks
• Proficient execution of excavation tasks, including loading and reinstating ground
• Attachment fitting and removal
• End-of-shift and shutdown procedures

Upon successful completion of the NPORS Excavator 360 (N202) course, participants will receive an NPORS certification. This certification is valid for five years from the course completion date.

Entry Requirements: Candidates must meet the following prerequisites for course enrollment:

• Successful completion of the CITB health, safety & environmental touch screen test within two years prior to application.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate a 360-degree excavator, adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
