NPORS Excavator 180

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Develop a basic understanding of the construction industry and recognize potential hazards associated with excavation work.
2. Gain working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific 180-degree excavator to be used.
3. Locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
4. Locate and identify key controls and provide explanations for their functions.
5. Conduct thorough pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
6. Identify and properly maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable for excavator 180° operation.
7. Prepare the excavator 180° for safe use.
8. Perform all necessary safety checks at the work area.
9. Operate the machinery safely and efficiently.
10. Consider environmental factors during operations.
11. Safely store and transport excavator 180° attachments.
12. Understand loading/unloading procedures for machine transportation.
13. Execute end-of-shift and shutdown procedures.

The NPORS Excavator 180 (N201) course covers the following areas:

• Basic industry understanding and hazard recognition
• Responsibilities and roles as an excavator operator
• Familiarization with the manufacturer’s handbook
• Identification and explanation of major machine components
• Identification and explanation of key controls
• Pre-operational checks and compliance with regulations
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) identification and maintenance
• Excavator 180° preparation for safe operation
• Safety checks at the work area
• Safe and efficient machinery operation
• Environmental considerations during operations
• Storage and transport of excavator 180° attachments
• Loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
• End-of-shift and shutdown procedures

Upon successful completion of the NPORS Excavator 180 (N201) course, participants will receive an NPORS certification. This certification is valid for five years from the course completion date.

Entry Requirements: Candidates must meet the following prerequisites for course enrollment:

• Successful completion of the CITB health, safety & environmental touch screen test within two years prior to application.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills required to safely operate a 180-degree excavator while adhering to industry standards and regulations.
