NPORS Excavation Marshall Banksperson

By the end of this course, participants will:

1. Understand the industry and recognize the potential dangers associated with excavation work.
2. Comprehend their responsibilities as an Excavation Marshall – Banksperson.
3. Gain knowledge of the equipment used and become familiar with Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permits to Work.
4. Identify and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their role.
5. Conduct pre-excavation checks efficiently.
6. Establish communication signals and emergency procedures.
7. Safely position themselves as Excavation Marshall – Banksperson.
8. Define and distinguish between different types of underground services.
9. Identify potential risks associated with excavations and understand how they can impact individuals.
10. Perform all necessary safety checks at the work area.
11. Carry out exploratory tasks as required.
12. Recognize the risks associated with excavating near underground services and apply safe digging practices.
13. Execute end-of-shift and safe storage procedures effectively.

The NPORS Excavation Marshall Banksperson (N027) course covers the following areas:

• Basic understanding of the industry and associated dangers
• Responsibilities as an Excavation Marshall – Banksperson
• Equipment knowledge, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permits to Work
• Identification and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Efficient pre-excavation checks
• Communication signals and emergency procedures
• Safe positioning techniques
• Identification of different underground services
• Risk assessment for excavations and their potential impacts
• Safety checks at the work area
• Execution of exploratory tasks
• Risks of excavating near underground services and safe practices
• End-of-shift and safe storage procedures

Upon successful completion of the NPORS Excavation Marshall Banksperson (N027) course, participants will receive certification accredited by NPORS. The certification is valid for five years from the date of completion.

Entry Requirements: Candidates are required to provide proof of meeting the following prerequisites:

• Passing the CITB health, safety & environmental touch screen test within two years prior to their application.
• A good understanding of spoken and written English.

This course equips participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to safely perform excavation marshalling and banking duties in the workplace.
