NPORS Red to Blue? Individuals seeking an upgrade from a Red Trained Operator to a Blue Competent Operator card must complete an NVQ. NPORS offers NVQs nationally to provide flexibility for both learners and sites.

NPORS Test:

  • Multiple-choice theory test (25 questions)
  • Practical Test

Available Cards on Completion: Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS card. The type of card issued depends on various factors, including site requirements, prior experience/qualifications, and employer CITB levy registration. Available card options include:

  • NPORS Traditional card (5 years): Internationally recognized, valid for 3 to 5 years.
  • CSCS Embossed NPORS card: Widely accepted in construction and related industries, requiring successful HS&E test completion within 2 years of applying.
    • NPORS CSCS Red Trained Operator card (2 years).
    • NPORS CSCS Blue Competent Operator card (5 years).

Pre-Course Information: Candidates should have a good understanding of English. While interpreters are permitted, Safeteam can arrange independent interpreters if needed.

Claiming CITB Grant on NPORS: CITB levy registered businesses can claim CITB grant for NPORS courses, subject to specific duration parameters for CPCS experienced worker or CPCS novice training. The grant covers both training and the CPCS technical test.
