Course Summary:

The NPORS Compact / Mini Crane (N140) course focuses on imparting safe and efficient operational skills for mini and compact cranes. The course caters to individuals with varying levels of experience, offering tailored training durations for both beginners and experienced operators, including a one-day Experienced Worker Assessment (Test Only) option.

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the industry and the associated hazards, while recognizing their responsibilities as operators.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook specific to the crane they will operate.
  • Identify and explain the major components of the crane and their functions.
  • Locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
  • Set up exclusion zones for safe crane operation.
  • Identify and maintain the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) suitable for mini compact crane use.
  • Conduct pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturer and legislative requirements.
  • Safely prepare the mini compact crane for use and operate the machine efficiently.
  • Consider environmental factors during crane operations.
  • Execute proper end-of-work and shutdown procedures in compliance with industry standards.

Entry Requirements Operators must provide proof of passing the CITB health, safety & environmental touchscreen test within the two years preceding their application. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.

Awarding Body: NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) Duration: Course duration varies based on learner experience. Card Validity: The NPORS Compact / Mini Crane certification is valid for a specified duration.
