he N304 Cable Avoidance Training Course covers the following key content:

NPORS Red to Blue? Candidates looking to upgrade from a Red Trained Operator to a Blue Competent Operator card need to undertake an NVQ. NPORS offers NVQs nationally for convenience.

NPORS Test:

  • Multiple-choice theory test (25 questions)
  • Practical Test

Available Cards on Completion: Successful candidates will receive an NPORS card upon completion, with various options available depending on factors such as site requirements, prior experience/qualifications, and CITB levy registration. These include:

  • NPORS Traditional card (5 years): Valid for 3 to 5 years, less suited to construction.
  • CSCS Embossed NPORS card: Widely accepted in construction and construction allied industries.
    • NPORS CSCS Red Trained Operator card (2 years).
    • NPORS CSCS Blue Competent Operator card (5 years).

Pre-Course Information: Candidates should have a good understanding of English. Interpreters are permitted, and Safeteam can arrange for independent interpreters if needed.

Claiming CITB Grant on NPORS: CITB levy registered businesses can claim CITB grant for NPORS courses, subject to certain duration parameters for CPCS experienced worker or CPCS novice training. The grant amount covers both training and the CPCS technical test.

Course Delivery: The course primarily consists of practical tuition, with theory training for novice N304 Cable Avoidance Tool / Cat & Genny course participants to prepare for the multiple-choice assessment. All delegates receive and are encouraged to read Safeteam’s NPORS study notes.
