NHSS 12D M1/M2 Static Works on Single Carriageways

Upon completing the NHSS 12D M1/M2 course, learners will be able to:

The NHSS 12D M1/M2 course covers a comprehensive range of topics essential for effective traffic management, including:

• Quality Assurance and Sector Schemes: Understanding the framework and importance of sector schemes in maintaining quality standards in traffic management.
• Health & Safety: Emphasizing the significance of health and safety practices, including risk assessments and method statements in the workplace.
• Industry Guidance Documents: Familiarizing learners with key documentation and codes of practice relevant to traffic management.
• Highway Terminology and Types of Work: Introducing the specific terminology used in the industry and the various types of traffic management operations.
• Equipment & Vehicles: Identifying the equipment and vehicles essential for temporary traffic management.
• Traffic Control Methods: Understanding both passive and positive methods of traffic control, including specific requirements for mobile and short-duration works.
• Safety Measures: Covering site definitions, safety zones, and the implementation of stop works signs, basic layouts, and traffic control systems like give and take, priority signing, and stop and go operations.
• Consideration for Non-Motorised Road Users: Addressing the requirements and safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and other non-motorised road users.
• Roundabouts, Road Closures, and Diversions: Discussing the principles involved in managing traffic around roundabouts, implementing road closures, and setting up diversions.

After successfully completing the training and passing the end-of-course tests for T1 and T2, learners will undertake assessments to obtain their Traffic Management (TM) card. Maintenance of an in-date M2 skills registration card is essential for retaining qualifications for advanced modules.

Entry Requirements

• Prerequisites: Learners must have completed the NHSS 12D T1/T2 training course. A valid NHSS 12 TTMBC qualification or NHSS12 qualification is required before undertaking the M1/M2 training.
• IMPORTANT NOTE: It is critical to keep the M2 skills registration card up-to-date to prevent invalidation of qualifications for further modules.

Additional Information

• Duration: Each module, 12D M1 and 12D M2, is conducted over half a day.
• Certification Validity: The TM card obtained upon successful completion and assessment is crucial for proving competency as a Registered Traffic Management Operative.
