CITB SMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme

The primary aim of the SMSTS course is to equip site managers with the knowledge and skills necessary to:

• Effectively manage, monitor, and implement health, safety, and environmental aspects on construction sites in compliance with legal provisions.
• Incorporate new guidance and industry best practice into their operational framework.
• Understand their roles and responsibilities concerning site health, safety, welfare, and environmental management.
• Acknowledge the efficiency, economy, and environmental benefits of running a safe construction site.

The SMSTS course encompasses a comprehensive curriculum, including:

• An overview of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation affecting the construction industry.
• The significance of risk assessments and the implementation of control measures.
• Strategies for fostering a health and safety culture among the workforce through effective communication.
• An exploration of the latest industry standards and best practices in site management.

Upon full attendance and successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate endorsing their CITB SMSTS qualification. This certification serves as a testament to their ability to manage health and safety on construction sites effectively. It’s crucial for participants to ensure a stable internet connection throughout the online course to avoid disruptions. A day before the course commencement, participants will receive an email containing links and codes to download necessary publications and resources. These resources are crucial for the course and are available for a defined period of 12 months, with automatic updates for any amendments during this time.

Entry Requirements and Additional Information

• Prerequisites: While there are no formal entry requirements, it’s recommended that delegates are currently in, or about to step into, a site management role. A foundational understanding of health and safety is advised.
• Identification: A form of photographic ID is required at the start of the course to verify the participant’s identity.
• Language Proficiency: A competent level of written and spoken English is necessary for successful completion of the course. Those with insufficient English proficiency are advised to contact United Safety Solutions for guidance on available support.
• Learner Numbers: The course accommodates a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 20 delegates for in-person sessions, with online courses limited to 12 participants to ensure quality learning experiences.
