CITB SSSTS – Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme

The SSSTS course aims to enable supervisors to:

• Understand health and safety laws and regulations relevant to their roles.
• Develop a clear understanding of their responsibilities and accountabilities for site health, safety, and welfare.
• Recognize the significance of promoting a safe work environment as a means to ensure efficiency, economy, and environmental friendliness on site.

• Comprehensive coverage of legislation and safe working practices in the building, construction, and civil engineering industries.
• Importance of risk assessments and the implementation of necessary control measures.
• Techniques for effective communication and promotion of a health and safety culture among the workforce.
• Details about the nationally recognised health & safety qualification and its requirement for supervisors on major construction sites.
• Information on the online interactive Video Online Learning option for remote learners.
• Instructions for full attendance and guidelines for managing internet connectivity issues during the course.
• Information on course publications including ‘Construction site supervision (GE706)’ and ‘Toolbox talks (GT700)’, and the process to download these using a reader app.
• Details about the Zoom platform for online course delivery, including download and support instructions.

• Full attendance is mandatory to achieve a pass. Instructions regarding attendance and rejoining the course in case of internet issues.
• English competency at the site supervisor level is required.
• Photographic ID is needed for identification at the start of the course.
• Course certification is valid for a defined period with publications accessible for 12 months, including any amendments.
