CITB SMSTS-R – Site Management Safety Training Scheme – Refresher

The primary aims of the SMSTS-R course are to:

• Reinforce understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety, welfare, and the environment.

• Overview of recent developments in construction, health and safety legislation, welfare, and environmental issues.
• Strategies for implementing responsibilities and new working practices in line with legislation.
• Guidance on adopting industry best practices.
• Comprehensive engagement with health and safety management and environmental responsibilities.
• Online learning options for remote learners through interactive Video Online Learning via Zoom.
• Mandatory full attendance for successful course completion.

• Course Duration: 2 Days
• Certification Validity: 5 years
• Requirements include full attendance and active participation.
• Course publications include ‘Construction Site Safety – The Comprehensive Guide (GE700)’.
• Familiarisation with Zoom and other digital tools required for online course participation.

Entry Requirements

• Eligibility is restricted to those who have previously passed the SMSTS or a subsequent refresher course.
• Valid SMSTS certification is required as proof of previous course completion.
• Photographic ID (e.g., Driving Licence or Passport) is needed for verification at the start of the course.
• Proficiency in English is necessary, as per CITB requirements.
• Delegates unable to provide proof of their previous certification may need to attend the full SMSTS course.
