NPORS Lorry Loader

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Develop a basic understanding of the industry, recognizing potential dangers and understanding responsibilities as a plant operator.
2. Acquire a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook, as well as other relevant sources of information, regulations, and legislation applicable to the specific machine in use.
3. Identify and explain the major components of both the vehicle and the loader crane and describe their functions.
4. Locate and identify all operating controls, providing explanations of their functions.
5. Conduct comprehensive pre-operational checks in accordance with the manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
6. Configure the vehicle and loader crane for safe travel.
7. Safely maneuver the machine across varying terrains in open and confined areas.
8. Conduct all necessary safety checks within the work area.
9. Position the machine in readiness for carrying out lifting duties.
10. Correctly deploy stabilizers according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
11. Comply with all requirements for rated capacity indicators or load moment indicators.
12. Identify weights and centers of gravity of loads to be used.
13. Perform lifting operations using the full capabilities of the loader crane.
14. Accurately position loads at designated locations, including loading and unloading from the vehicle.
15. Identify, fit, and remove various attachments and lifting accessories as appropriate.
16. Minimize load swing and ensure load security on the vehicle.
17. Execute all end-of-shift and shutdown procedures for the lorry loader.

The NPORS Lorry Loader (N107) course encompasses the following key components:

• Basic industry understanding, including industry dangers and operator responsibilities.

• Positioning the machine for lifting duties.
• Correct deployment of stabilizers as per manufacturer’s specifications.
• Compliance with requirements for rated capacity indicators or load moment indicators.
• Identification of load weights and centers of gravity.
• Safe execution of lifting operations using the loader crane’s capabilities.
• Accurate positioning of loads.
• Attachment and lifting accessory management.
• Load swing minimization and load security.
• End-of-shift and shutdown procedures for the lorry loader’s safety.

Upon successful completion of the NPORS Lorry Loader (N107) course, participants will receive an NPORS certification. This certification is typically valid for 5 years, serving as evidence of the individual’s competence in safely and effectively operating a lorry loader.

Pre-Course Information: Candidates must provide proof of eligibility for the course, including passing the CITB health, safety, and environmental touch screen test within two years prior to applying. Additionally, candidates should possess a good understanding of spoken and written English.

This training equips individuals with the necessary skills to operate a lorry loader while ensuring safety and compliance with industry regulations.
